Course Highlights:

Mono and Silkscreen Printing:

Learn the art of transferring intricate designs onto clay surfaces through mono and silkscreen printing techniques. Discover how to create visually stunning patterns and images that bring your ceramic pieces to life.

Slip and Underglaze Transfers:

Master the application of slip and underglaze transfers to add depth, color, and texture to your pottery. Explore various transfer methods that allow you to personalize your creations with unique and intricate designs.

Water Etching:

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of water etching. Uncover the secrets of this technique as you carve intricate details into the clay, creating visually captivating and tactile surfaces.

Stencil Blocks and Stamping:

Delve into the realm of stencil blocks and stamping to incorporate intricate designs and textures onto your ceramic pieces effortlessly. Unlock the potential of these methods to add depth and complexity to your creations.

Sgraffito:

Discover the ancient art of sgraffito, where layers of contrasting colored clays are carved away to reveal stunning patterns and designs. Learn to wield carving tools with precision to create intricate and visually striking compositions.

Hand Building Methods:

Rachelle will be sharing hand-building methods that will be the canvases for your surface decoration exploration.

Adamah will provide:

  • 25 lbs of porcelain, Bclay, or stoneware. Additional porcelain and stoneware will be available for purchase. 
  • Bisque firing during workshop
  • Basic throwing and hand-building tools
  • Wax resist
  • Underglazes and slips

Participants should bring:

  • Any personal brushes, tools, stencils or stamps wished to use during workshop
  • Boxes and wrapping for any pieces made during the workshop

About Artist:

Rachelle Miller

Rachelle Miller received her BA in art with a ceramics emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After graduation, she worked four years as a production potter for Rockdale Union Stoneware, Rowe Pottery, and Lakeside Pottery. Since then, she has been working as a studio potter and an instructor at Madison College.
