Join Potters for Peace Board of Directors member, Don Hall, for a 5-day workshop building a primitive, low-fire, wood burning kiln from branches and hand-mixed adobe. Don has experienced building and firing primitive kilns in Nicaragua and the South West. We will build a simple updraft kiln using ancient techniques and materials that some cultures are still using to fire their pottery. You can bring 10 small, dry, unglazed green-ware objects to fire. Raku clay or low fire clay with grog added works best. Don Hall will also teach ancient hand-building pot making and surface decorating using yucca brushes like the ancient people of the Southwest.
