Exploring the Web of Life:
A Myco Journey through Seed, Soil and Mycelium
Workshops in Cultivating Mushrooms, Myco-Mindful Gardening, and Wildcraft Dining at Adamah
Workshop 3:
Myco Mindful Gardening - Introducing Mushrooms to your soil
October 17, 2021
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm
Workshop Fee: $90 (Lunch is included)
Spend a day exploring seed, soil and mycelium in the garden in this hands-on workshop. Discover the role mycoremediation plays in healing our soil as well as its ability to be the “defense” in the fight against harmful toxins in your own home garden and beyond! Learn about the possibilities mycelium plays in restoring balance in our environment and see firsthand how mycoactive compost benefits root structure, decreases environmental stress and makes nutrients more bioavailable to plants. Discuss with local mushroom growers the benefits mycelium can have in your own home garden.
Emily and Christopher Appelman run a homestead in the Driftless Region with their two girls Sparrow and Esmae. The Appelmans have more than five years of experience in hardwood log and mulch mushroom cultivation. During these 5 years of growing they have also utilized their knowledge of mycoremediation to its full revitalizing potential by using mycoactive compost in their soil to better the health of their crops and the surrounding ecosystem. Outside of this they enjoy teaching many Mycorrhizal related workshops throughout Iowa and Wisconsin.
Overview of All 3 Workshops in this Series:
Join us in our mission to explore the world of mycelium and its all-encompassing and nourishing web. In this series of three workshops you will find yourself equipped with the knowledge to grow nourishing fungi as well as how to use mycelium to feed and nourish your own home garden. Hone your skills in the garden as well as in the field by spending a day wildcrafting, then bringing it to full circle in the kitchen with a field to fork dinner.
