About the Workshop
Join Chicago Potter Laura Williams and learn how to pinch, form, and shape pottery using your most fundamental clay tool: your hands. This class takes an in-depth look at the age-old pinching technique. Explore shaping using coils, molds, slabs, and pinch pots to form refined functional ceramics with your unique touch. Great for seasoned pinchers and newbies alike. Finishing techniques will also be discussed.
Adamah will provide:
- 50lbs of stoneware clay. Porcelain and additional stoneware will be available for purchase.
- Bisque firing during workshop
- Basic throwing and hand-building tools
Participants should bring:
- Any personal tools wished to use during workshop
- Boxes and wrapping for any pieces made during the workshop
Bio
Laura Williams (they/she) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago.
Their work centers on material, story-telling, and play. Laura studied ceramics and screen printing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They teach ceramics at Lillstreet Arts Centre and The Digs Chicago. They make out of their home studio in Humboldt Park.
